YouTube Funnel Summary

The copy in this sales funnel sequence is written to convert prospects into a lead with a lead magnet. Then the prospect gets put into an email sequence that promotes a copywriting course.
The lead magnet is called the “Top Dollar Digital Skill Blueprint” and is targeted towards college students who don’t know want they want to do for a career but knows that college isn’t where they want to be.
They want to make a great living without having to go down the rabbit hole of being stuck in student loan debt.
This blueprint is about copywriting and it goes in-depth on why copywriting is a valuable skill that college students can learn and leverage in the digital economy to make great money.
The prospect most likely isn’t aware of copywriting so copywriting is not mentioned during the first 2 steps of the funnel. It is framed as a “digital skill”. I got this idea from a article I found during research from an organization called Harvard Business Review.
I took the credible data and information from this article and tied it into the offer and created a YouTube ad out of it. Click here if you would like to view the article.
Also, keep in mind that this is a spec campaign, so the copy you are about to read in this funnel sample is not copy that was tested and ran in a real campaign.
This funnel was developed for the sole purpose of showcasing my ability to write persuasive copy and turning ideas into full sales pieces.
With that being said, let’s start this off with the YouTube ad script…
YouTube Video Ad Summary
Before you watch this video, I wanted to mention a few things.
Since this video is not actually going to get tested on YouTube, I threw together this video so you can see that I understand what goes into creating effective paid media ad material.
I know the visuals could be much better (I even left the watermarks on the stock footage) and I am fully aware of the significance of the visual aspect of creatives. But, this portfolio is for showcasing my copy skills, not my video editing skills.
I used my own voice for the voiceover and edited these stock footages together to construct this video. But obviously, the focus here is on the script.

98% of college students will never see this video.
And that really sucks for them. Why is that?
That’s because Harvard Business Review, the Harvard affiliated business organization has stumbled across some critical information.
This shocking information is crucial for current college students that are pursuing careers
Especially those who are not fully sure what they want to do yet and isn’t sure if college is even worth it
This is because without knowing what I am about to tell you, it could potentially result in you being a broke and underpaid college graduate with a crapload of debt that will take you decades to pay off.
So if you are a college student that wants to be certain that they will be financially secure in the next 1-4 years…then it would be a good idea to pay close attention to this short video.
Hi, my name is Jeremiah Bradley and I was just like you, a young and confused college student who didn’t know what to do or what to pursue
I was on my way down the road of the debt trap just like everyone else…until I found a better way and took control of my financial future
Now I make well of 100k per year with no debt and I can work from anywhere in the world
You see, Harvard Business Review discovered that the US is currently dealing with a devastating “college affordability crisis”
The cost of college tuition is shooting to the moon…and the aftermath?
Well, the average college student now graduates with a hefty pile-up of $30,000 in student loan debt
And that’s just scratching the surface.
On top of the heavy debt massacre, more than 40% of recent college grads are underemployed when they land their first gig.
And for those who are underemployed at their first gig, half of them are STILL underemployed 10 YEARS LATER!
This is scary news…
But what is causing this nightmare?
It’s because employers need new job candidates with valuable digital skills due to the rising demands of the new digital economy we are living in.
And we all know…modern college courses are as old as DIRT!
The 4-year institutions can’t keep up with the new fast-paced digital economy that’s constantly changing day-by-day.
Due to this, businesses now need newcomers to have the digital “tools in their toolbox” more than ever before.
And since the universities aren’t equipping their students with these valuable and highly paid digital skills, this inevitably results in underemployment for college grads
So what does this mean for you?
This means you need to grab yourself a digital skill ASAP if you aren’t sure if your current career path will have the best odds of success once you graduate.
The World Economic Forum found that 29% of large companies believe that they have their digital needs met…
And this is GREAT news for you. Why?
That’s because a whopping 71% of large companies are still CRAVING new talent with valuable digital skills.
This means there is a crap ton of 100k per year opportunities available to you if you manage to acquire one of these skills…

This is the hook of the ad. It calls out the ideal prospect and it instills a sense of urgency in them to watch the video by stating only 98% of them will actually see it.
This makes them think that this ad must be important and they are lucky to be able to see it so they are going to want to stay tuned to find out what this video has to tell them.
"That’s because Harvard Business Review, the Harvard affiliated business organization has stumbled across some critical information."

I am leveraging credibility here by stating that the information in this ad came from a credible source, a "Harvard affiliated organization".
Every college student knows that Harvard is a “top dog” so if they know that this information that they are going to learn came from an organization that is in cahoots with Harvard, then it has to be some valuable and trustworthy information.
"Especially those who are not fully sure what they want to do yet and isn’t sure if college is even worth it"

Here I am getting even more specific on calling out who my ideal prospect is so they can know that this message is for them.
I want them to watch this video and eliminate the people who don’t fit the criteria. Clicks cost money ya know, definitely don’t want to waste money on unqualified clicks.
"This is because without knowing what I am about to tell you, it could potentially result in you being a broke and underpaid college graduate with a crapload of debt that will take you decades to pay off."

This statement sparks fear in the prospect, it lets them know what the consequences will be if they don’t watch this video.
They don’t want to end up being a broke college grad with tons of debt so this claim is going to add on more tension to that sense of urgency to watch the video.
"So if you are a college student that wants to be certain that they will be financially secure in the next 1-4 years…then it would be a good idea to pay close attention to this short video."

Getting even MORE specific on the ideal prospect. This time, I put emphasis on the dream outcome of the prospect. So at this point, if a prospect watches past the lead, they are more than likely the person that this ad is targeted to.

"Hi, my name is Jeremiah Bradley and I was just like you, a young and confused college student who didn’t know what to do or what to pursue"

I introduce the speaker, which is myself. I then communicate to the prospect that I was just like them who faced the same struggles.
This creates a quick connection with them and makes them feel understood. This opens them up to viewing the speaker as a trustworthy individual.
"I was on my way down the road of the debt trap just like everyone else…until I found a better way and took control of my financial future"

This statement gives the prospect a sense of hope because the speaker has mentioned that not only were they like them, but they found a way to overcome their struggles.
This also tickles a little curiosity because they will want to know what this “better way” actually is.
"Now I make well over 100k per year with no debt and I can work from anywhere in the world"

Here I am highlighting the benefits that this “better way” provides. These are benefits that the ideal prospect desires in their core.

Here I start to set the stage of the main problem. I leverage statistics & information from a credible source (Harvard Business Review) so the prospect can know that this is a REAL problem and not something that the speaker made up.

I elaborate on the root cause of this problem that I previously set the stage for. Now that the prospect knows the cause of this problem that they are trying to avoid, this sets the stage for the solution.
"So what does this mean for you? This means you need to grab yourself a digital skill ASAP if you aren’t sure if your current career path will have the best odds of success once you graduate.

Here I am briefly mentioning the solution to this problem. But notice how I don’t actually mention the offer.
This is done intentionally because if the prospect knows the solution to their problem and how it will benefit them prior to being presented an offer, they are much more receptive to the offer when it is presented to them.
This is because they now have an informed understanding on how this offer will solve their problem and what benefits they will get by accepting the offer.

Here I am leveraging a credible source to give the prospect a valid reason why it is a good idea to take advantage of this solution while they still can.

"So don’t wait, because as more and more college students discover this goldmine, the harder and harder it’s going to be for you to become successful

This statement creates urgency. It let’s the prospect know that they will be shooting themselves in the foot if they don’t act fast on this offer.
